The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Wichita, KS chemical plant maintenance to improve equipment reliability through good predictive and preventative maintenance practices. The Maintenance Reliability Engineer will apply equipment and process knowledge and interact closely with Operations and Maintenance personnel to resolve issues and implement improvements across the facility.


The incumbent initiates and coordinates necessary measures to assure the compliance with applicable codes, regulations, rules and policies regarding mechanical integrity and reliability systems across the plant.  Also provides mechanical engineering guidance and assistance to the Maintenance Department technicians.


This position should become proficient in the use of basic continuous improvement tools (TPM) supported by the company.


The Reliability Engineer will report to the Maintenance Manager.




  • Coordinates the plant Mechanical Integrity program.
  • Assists shop personnel in conducting investigations into equipment failures, including those resulting from process variances and rework opportunities. Works hand in hand with maintenance and operations personnel in reliability efforts around upgrading obsolete equipment. Provide guidance to the mechanical maintenance personnel in the repair, maintenance and installation of process equipment including problem-solving activities that support continuous plant operations
  • Provides leadership and influences with the development of maintenance strategies and documented work instructions for existing and new equipment as well as in the implementation and use of existing and new predictive maintenance technologies. Modifies maintenance plans, strategies or procedures as needed.
  • Develops new programs and initiatives that will improve reliability and reduce costs.
  • Leads investigations and root-cause analysis for equipment related events or failures
  • Works with key vendors to help develop appropriate maintenance practices and reduce spare parts costs.
  • Gathers and examines basic reliability data from field studies or data base collected from SAP system and correlates the data for analysis using well defined engineering techniques/principles/procedures.
  • Leads small projects in the Maintenance department and submits capital and maintenance expenditures.
  • Assists in development and optimization of spare parts, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and materials.
  • Works with Maintenance Planner to ensure he/she can perform planner duties.
  • Provides support for the site's environmental, health and safety activities.





•    BS in Mechanical Engineering
•    5 Years Industrial experience 
•    Chemical Plant experience is preferred and a plus
•    Possess strong leadership, qualities and analytical skills
•    Knowledge of Mechanical Integrity codes, rules and regulations.
•    Process and equipment troubleshooting.
•    Proficiency with SAP Plant Maintenance module.
•    Effective oral and written communication skills.
•    Exceptional organizational skills.
•    Possess a broad knowledge of maintenance and reliability best practices.
•    Ability to handle several projects in a high demand environment.
•    Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
•    Skills in successfully overcoming challenges and identifying opportunities for improvement.
•    Ability to influence groups without having direct supervisory responsibility.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
