This position will provide process control support for the Wichita, KS site. The main responsibility will be to provide technical expertise for maintaining and modifying batch process controls, batch recipes, and plant instrumentation. This position will support capital projects, process improvements, trials, new product introductions, root cause analysis, and process safety recommendations. The process controls engineer will be a key member of the plant team and driver of site performance.
Daily interaction with the production team, engineering, operations, and maintenance departments will be required. Strong interpersonal skills are required to lead cross-functional teams across the site. Must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision on multiple projects/initiatives across the site. The incumbent should have strong leadership competencies along with 3+ years of process controls experience.



  • Provide the site with technical automation expertise in support of day-to-day troubleshooting, capital project implementation, optimization, and validation work. 
  • Individual will be the main contact for process control system troubleshooting efforts in response to plant findings. Process controls will be expected to coordinate with plant engineering, operations, and maintenance as needed to effectively resolve control system issues. 
  • Day-to-day support expectation includes alarm management/improvement, generating reports, running backups, maintaining bypass logs and supporting the MOC process. 
  • Provide support for all DCS programming and configuration related to the implementation of capital projects. This includes recipe design, programming and follow-up commissioning work for new equipment. Assisting in the definition of capital project scopes to ensure effective implementation is also expected. 
  • Support plant wide productivity and continuous improvement work. Work directly with engineering, operations, and maintenance as required on plant performance improvement projects ensuring needs are met as related to the site’s process controls system. 
  • Evaluate process controls PHA items, including the restructuring of interlocks and resulting SIL rating. Update documentation, track changes using MOCs, implement changes in the DCS, and manage changes required in the field. 
  • Support the introduction of new products and trial manufacturing runs. 
  • Ensure successful completion of documentation for technical changes, Management of Change and Capital projects under their management, including EHS documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all elements of process safety management including manufacturing procedures, participating in project and design hazard reviews, PHAs and MOC reviews.
  • Support safety and environmental process activities and be a role model for leadership in these areas.


  • BS or MS in Engineering and 3+ years of process controls experience, required
  • Siemens PLM software systems and batch plant experience, ideal 
  • Promote behaviors to improve safety within the organization
  • Comfortable working in a plant environment. Position requires working on the plant floor directly with plant engineers, operations, and maintenance staff daily. 
  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to manage multiple issues at the same time 
  • A high level of initiative and self-starting skills
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skill with a results-oriented commitment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
