  • Lead an innovative technical team and run a state-of-the-art photopolymer 3D printing lab for supporting I2P (idea-to-profit) processes & projects, and interfacing with customers to enable successful product launch and commercialization together with a global, cross-functional team.
  • Execute R&D projects in the area of Additive Manufacturing for Industrial application. You will work as a team to build up Additive Manufacturing projects with focus on high performance liquid resin. You will have the chance to innovate, develop, formulate, and design new polymer-based material to create breakthrough additive manufacturing for industrial application.  
  • You will have the chance to inject creativity and curiosity to develop the problem- solving solution. You will have the opportunity to develop your own idea and project that you would like to realize.
  • Opportunity to learn and develop your knowhow and skillset related to Evonik competencies.   • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor


  • Master or PhD degree in Chemistry, Polymer, Material Engineering or related science 
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in polymer area; specifically with technical project experience related to polymer design, polymer formulation, fine-tuning polymer properties for thermoset/photopolymer resin formulations. Knowledge and experience for Photopolymer 3D printing and material R&D are an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge in polymerization & organic chemistry.  Particularly in the field of polymerization synthesis, photopolymerization, polymerization process optimization and chemical functionalization of monomer/polymer. Ability to “connect-the-dots” between polymer properties, polymerization process, synthesis pathway and end-application.
  • Technical competency and hand-on experience in one or more of the following is highly desired: organic dispersions, pigments/colorants, organic formulations/formulating additives, dispersing/mixing equipment. Work experience in the following industries is highly desirable: UV curable inks/resins, organic paint/coating industry, and thermoset resin industry.
  • Expert/experienced material science/engineer with broad knowledge in finetuning material properties to meet the targeted feature/performance.
  • The position requires laboratory technical skills, in particular synthesis and formulation of monomer, oligomer, polymer, resin. Knowledge and hand-on experience with various instrumentations such as tensile tester, DSC, DMA, TGA, GPC, UV-Vis, IR, titrator, mechanical mixers, FTIR, NMR, are desirable. 
  • Proven project management and project execution skills, with the ability to drive customer adoption of new technologies and existing products. 
  • Self-driving & self-motivating, initiate & drive projects/ideas independently.
  • Comfortable to deal with high uncertainty & ambiguity. Not afraid to take a risk & willing to learn from failure.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic entrepreneur spirit.
  • Collaborative team player, being able to be a team leader as well as team player. Take a leadership/coordination role on projects, especially those initiated by his/herself.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Excellent language skill in English is essential and knowledge of basic German is advantageous.
  • Operation experience of photopolymer 3D printers and proficiency with 3D CAD/CAM software are a plus. Familiarity with other chemistry related software (Scifinder, Chemdraw ) is a plus 
  • Proficiency with MS office (specifically with Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is a must
