This position supports Evonik's radiation curable silicone release coating Quality Control and Product Development activities.  The successful candidate will own responsibility for testing and releasing all production batches of release coating products, including communication with plant personnel and the product development team.  The role is also responsible for coating and laboratory testing of customer specific projects and innovative new product development and launches.  The position will require frequent communication with external customers, including product recommendations and with the internal global technical and commercial teams for product development.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate an industrial coater and complete all quality control testing to ensure accurate and timely release of all production batches
  • Report test results in SAP
  • Communicate with production management and plant personnel
  • Conduct testing of customer specific samples and communicate test results and product recommendations through email, phone and meetings.  Prepare and package samples for customers and internal testing
  • Conduct testing in support of innovative new product development projects
  • Maintain coater, lab equipment and lab area in a safe professional manner
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Chemistry or related field and 2 years experience in a QC or manufacturing role is preferred, OR 5+ years in a related manufacturing or QC role 
  • Previous experience operating heavy industrial equipment is required.  Experience with equipment used for label or tape manufacturing is preferred
  • Previous experience with coatings, silicone chemistry is preferred
  • Must have experience interacting with customers, or desire to do so
  • Must take initiative and be self-directed
