The Vice President of Regional Development will be responsible for:

  • managing the development and execution of strategic initiatives, driving them at a regional level
  • establishing and serving as the lead for the North American Digital Council, developing the digital strategy for North America
  • performing assessments on the topic of sustainability, and gaining an understanding of the drivers to develop a regional approach to sustainability
  • developing the overall roadmap for Evonik's current and future positions within Canada and Mexico
  • collaborating with the Business Line Heads and completing competitive assessments on the key players in the market 
  • identifying 3rd party options that leverage Evonik's North American asset footprint




  • Develop, propose & implement new business plans that optimize value & reduce risk at North American Sites.
    • Manage the relationships between 3rd parties and Evonik. Responsible for communication between 3rd parties and Evonik leadership
    • Develop and update 3rd party selection criteria that maintain world-class standards of safety and environmental performance
    • Manage Organize, motivate and align support functions, as needed, to drive deals.  Form and direct the Evonik negotiating team, driving deals forward. 
    • Partner with the appropriate leaders to ensure alignment of and achievement of business metrics at the financial and business levels.
    • Maintain working knowledge of site budget and cost allocation methods.
    • Prepare and maintain profit/loss summaries for individual deals and how they impact Evonik units.
  • Develop the  North American digital council, which will be crucial for the region and is a necessary competitive dynamic to ensure Evonik is properly positioned in the marketplace.
  • Identify and define key inputs needed to develop the overall sustainability strategy for the region.
    • Engage Business Lines to extract commercially driven sustainable needs critical to delivering upon Business Line specific strategy
    • Engage key functional leaders and regional platforms to understand additional sustainable drivers and needs
    • Closely follow legislative activities in the region to provide a “voice of government” impact on sustainable topics.
    • Develop and recommend an organizational structure that consolidates all key strategy inputs and creates focus areas and action plans for the region.
  • Develop the overall roadmap for Evonik's current and future positions within Canada and Mexico
  • Collaborate with the Business Line Heads to complete competitive assessments on the key players in the market


  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Finance & Accounting, or similar on-the-job experience, as well as, a minimum of five years of experience in senior-level management.
  • Previous experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management, as well as, knowledge of chemistry or chemical engineering, finance, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Previous experience in operational business is essential. 
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate a large global, matrixed organization
  • Ability to analyze technical and financial data and prepare proposals for board decisions. 
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to participate, facilitate, and motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. 
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and frequent travel to the Evonik Corporation sites in North America and occasionally overseas.
