The Business Development Manager Membranes – Americas is commercially responsible for market development and sales of gas separation membrane products (SEPURAN®), especially biogas.  The focus will be on driving new business with accounts, account management, promoting brand awareness.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in developing and executing the short-term and long-term go-to-market and marketing and sales strategy in North America to effectively manage and grow the SEPURAN® membrane businesses.

  • Identify and develop sales opportunities in gas separation with a focus on biogas upgrading.  Identify market trends which support membrane usage. Identify and develop relationships with OEMs and targeted end-users for market penetration.

  • Identify strategic OEM companies for promoting SEPURAN® membrane products and technical competencies.  Target end-user companies which benefit from Evonik’s technology.

  • Manage the interface between the customer and internal contacts supporting the Membranes businesses (manufacturing, legal, application technology, technical services).

  • Negotiate pricing and supply/confidentiality agreements to support business growth.

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships positioning Evonik’s competencies in current products, technical support, and innovation/solution capabilities

  • Plan and execute promotional activities including Trade Show identification, attendance, and management to make new contacts and identify new development opportunities

  • Comply with and utilize the necessary Evonik systems for customer tracking, communication, etc.  This is to document all customer contact and opportunities in CRM to communicate market information, opportunities, trends, customer needs, and competitive activity.  Report status and progress of sales activities and development projects in North America.  Create and maintain up-to-date market, sales, and financial forecasts to support reporting and assessment of business activities.
     

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent experience; MBA desired.
  • 3+ years of experience preferred
  • Demonstrated success in a new business development/sales role. 
  • Previous experience working with an OEM business model and experience with the commercial launch of new products
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel on a regular basis; ie more than 50% across all of North America
