SUMMARY:
The person in this role will recommend, initiate, and implement measures for further development of Evonik production and operations processes to maintain and ensure state of the art process technology and operation management methodologies in order to minimize costs, provide high product quality, and to maximize plant and product availability for defined Evonik business groups and affiliates. S/he will promote and maintain the principles of, and responsibilities related to, Responsible Care within his/her assigned areas of responsibility and as defined in the RC 14001 management system.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical and methodological assistance to defined production and operations areas (e.g. increase of a plant’s availability, reduction of investment and production/logistics/administrative costs, debottlenecking, quality improvement, etc.)
  • Recommend concepts for expansions, quality increase, production availability, operations management, etc.
  • Obtain process development or process improvement activities from Evonik business lines.
  • Provide technical support in basic engineering, detail engineering, construction and commissioning of production processes.
  • Prepare basic process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, Equipment Specifications) on capital projects and/or service requests.
  • Independently completes assigned technical assignments.
  • Support projects with universities/research institutes/equipment manufacturers to find advanced, more efficient technologies and methodologies.
  • Provide exchange of information with other Evonik plants in order to utilize these valuable resources for improvements. Participates in technology transfers to and from Europe.
  • Provide strategies for future development in cooperation with production, research and development, applied technology and superiors. In addition, provide development work, define the scope for development projects, as well as prepare time schedules and cost estimates.
  • Discuss, analyze, and define scope of work with clients (for example, Evonik business lines) to prepare proposals
  • Act in assigned roles within capital investment projects (Lead Process Engineer or Process Engineer).
  • Collaborate on global basis with other departments within Process Technology & Engineering to ensure exchange of relevant information regarding projects, clients, and service offerings.
  • Develop and deploy new process engineering service offerings that provide value to clients.
  • Lead cross-functional teams of 2 to 3 employees.
  • Provide technical guidance of up to 2 process engineers, design engineers, or assistant engineers.
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Chemical Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience working in process technology and/or operations management.
  • Knowledge of process techniques in mechanical and thermal processes; process design; manufacturing technology; automation of processes; and/or methodolgies of operations management. 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to excel in a project team environment. 
  • Ability to work independently and proactively. 
  • Experience working cross-functionally.
