To define, organize, plan, direct and execute Evonik’s capital projects with a low investment volume and/or low level of complexity with focus in the Americas region (North, Central and South).


To ensure that the work is carried out according to accepted engineering practices, governmental regulations and to the standards of quality expected by Evonik and within budget and schedule constraints.


To generate, direct and approve mechanical designs, specifications, drawings and instructions to ensure that purchased equipment satisfies the process requirements.


Incumbent will promote and maintain the principles of and responsibilities related to Responsible Care within his/her assigned areas of responsibility.



  • Manage the definition and development of the most economical project scope in cooperation with the Project Responsible.
  • Generate and approve designs, specifications, drawing and instructions with emphasis on lowest possible investment cost and efficient and safe plant operability.
  • To prepare engineering / construction bid documents and cost estimates for capital projects.
  • Prepare front end engineering documentation and Capital Appropriation Requests.
  • Monitor and report project cost and schedule on a regular basis.
  • Accountable for the final project definition and the investment costs.
  • Review and authorize capital expenditures as defined in the Authorized Signers List for Capital Projects.
  • Manage the preparation of the design and as built documentation.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Automation,  Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Knowledge and specification experience in the area of sensors (flow, pressure, level, etc.) and final control elements (control valves, shut off valves) preferred
  • Experience in executing  the Automation portion of capital projects preferred
  • Working knowledge of BPCS & SIS systems preferred
  • Experience in scoping & estimating automation portions in capital projects preferred
  • Experience in putting automation construction packages together preferred
  • Experience in the correct installation of sensors and final control elements preferred
  • Experience in commissioning & start up of automation portion of projects preferred
  • Experience with packaged systems preferred
  • Experience in supporting PHA’s preferred
  • Very good communication skills (oral and written)
