The Materials Manager will manage the collaboration effort between Technical Services and every Evonik  3rd party business at the Mobile, Al site for all issues related to identifying, procuring, storing, maintaining, delivering, and reordering the unique parts for the facility.  These services are provided by an Evonik materials management team and a resident contractor material handling team.    

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads, manages, and holds team accountable for ensuring inventory is received appropriately, processed in the warehouse and distributed to the customer efficiently, and inventory integrity is maintained to acceptable metrics.
  • Owns the efficient management of inventory and related customer order fulfilment / delivery.
  • Evaluate, design, and establish proper layout of the warehouse and product placement to ensure the environment is most conducive to optimize efficiencies while meeting all customer service levels.
  • Owns annual department strategy and develops and maintains a work culture committed to superior customer service while seeking continuous improvement in the management of facilities, equipment, and people in the warehouse operations. 
  • Leads evaluation, selection, implementation and management of warehouse projects. 
  • Develops and manages team to achieve KPI metrics focused on safety, quality, and productivity requirements in accordance with company needs and customer requirements.  
  • Optimize all resources to meet or exceed quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction metrics.  
  • Communicates well with leadership, team members, and other departments.
  • Establishes clear and robust metrics to measure progress through process improvements for the contract crew
  • Collaborates with senior management to establish both short and long-term business objectives, material availability and inventory methods as needed.
  • Develop a continuous improvement plan aimed at optimizing material & business costs, reducing the overall cycle time, and maintaining the proper inventory levels Provide support to the Customer Support and Manufacturing teams to improve on-time delivery performance through effective production planning, accurate inventory tracking, effective shipping, and sound decision making.
  • Responsible for the development of standardized processes within materials planning to optimize the utilization of business resources and meet customer expectations for delivery
  • Responsible for the development of processes and plans to improve supply capabilities.
  • Follows up with suppliers and customers, including internal partners, on discrepancies and resolves issues.
  • Identifies, develops and manages strategic business relationships
  • Supports operations, maintenance and customers by attending to emergencies, obtaining and providing technical information and consulting on specific questions or concerns related to materials or supplies.
  • Prepare reports and communicate suggestions for improvement;
  • Ensure strong collaboration with key stakeholders including functional and Site leaders 
  • Assist with regional sites
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Area of study in Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain Management are preferred
  • General industrial management experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position and with minimum 10 years in manufacturing
  • Responsiveness and professionalism are critical as this position communicates with Manufacturing Directors, Plant Engineers, Superintendents, and other customers frequently.  
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with senior management and positively add value to short term and long term strategic planning.
  • Must be analytical and have the ability to problem solve in a concise and logical manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and manage expectations to create trust and credibility across a broad spectrum of the company.
  • Ability to interpret financial and nonfinancial data and clearly articulate the economic impact of significant decisions
