The Supervisor will ensure that the products and services provided by the Site Services departments including utilities generation/distribution, wastewater treatment, liquids and solids incineration, air emissions control, and solvent recovery/distribution meet all customer requirements with regards to quality, timeliness, and cost.  The Supervisor is accountable to ensure that the equipment and processes necessary to provide these products and services are operated in a safe and reliable manner.  In order to achieve this result, the Supervisor must be able to cooperate with both internal/external customers and business partners both within their department and across the site.



•    Continuously improve performance of direct reports by administering the Performance Management process, coaching, and providing feedback.
•    Establish expectations of direct reports and ensure expectations are met or exceeded.
•    Ensure direct reports are adequately trained to perform their duties.  Work towards building a cohesive team that is flexible and able to operate in multiple job disciplines.
•    Assist personnel in the development of technical, interpersonal, and transferable skills.
•    Coach personnel by focusing on their strengths and suggesting ways for growth and improvement.
•    Effectively communicate departmental and/or site goals, objectives, and results as needed.
•    Be a positive supporter of departmental and/or site goals and works towards their effective implementation.
•    Communicate in a thoughtful and productive manner that promotes and improves functional relationships.
•    Complete HR activities such as shift assignments, vacation planning, talent assessment, interim/final reviews, performance ratings, and merit delivery.
•    Ensure accurate time entry documentation.
•    Assign resources to ensure adequate coverage for off time such as illnesses, vacation, and medical leaves.
•    Detect and resolve conflicts before harm is caused to people, relationships, or processes.

•    Work with customer departments to facilitate efficient and cost effective management of their product and service needs.
•    Complete required training as outlined in the Learning Plan.
•    Understand site and Evonik priorities to better manage departmental activities (i.e., “see the big picture”).
•    Seek out additional data in order to be a more effective leader.
•    Serve as lead investigator, change owner, and procedure/training subject matter expert.  Be diligent in completing associated activities on time.
•    Manage all areas of an assigned process (quality, safety, environmental, equipment, materials, etc.) to ensure customer requirements are met.
•    Be supportive of TLT and business line management decisions.
•    Be an advocate and champion for change initiatives which can improve current procedures, methods, processes, etc..  Identify, lead, investigate, and implement changes as necessary.
•    Actively seek ways to improve the process, reduce costs, and make the working environment safer.
•    Be devoted to Evonik, your department, and team members regardless of their position as superior or subordinate.
•    Lead by example.






•    Proven leadership skills with emphasis in coaching/mentoring for performance improvement.

•    Ability to work in a heavily regulated environment.
•    Prior experience in a utilities, waste treatment, or other service oriented function (preferred).
•    High school diploma and a two-year technical degree or five years of leadership experience.
•    Bachelor’s degree in required field (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
•    Must be able to travel by foot between buildings and areas of responsibility.
•    Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
•    Must be able to work in a high noise environment.
•    Must be able to spend a significant amount of time outside, at times in inclement weather.

Working Conditions:
•    Must be able to work up to 12-hour shifts, days or nights.
•    Must be flexible and willing to adjust schedule to meet business needs as operations run 365 days a year.
•    Must be able to attend meetings, training courses, and forums on and off shift.
•    Must be able to relieve operations for breaks, lunches, and other short-term periods as needed. This requires being qualified in a job discipline.
