The Senior Project Manager provides project management services to all departments at Tippecanoe Labs for typical capital spending of >$5M/year. The Senior Project Manager works with minimal oversite by supervision to give project management support to a production plant or an area in execution of the capital projects.


The Senior Project Manager is responsible to define, organize, plan, and execute assigned capital investment project to be cost effective, timely, and safe utilizing good engineering practices. The incumbent has to ensure that all activities in assigned area are in accordance with accepted engineering practices, governmental regulations, cGMP and Evonik Corporation policies and standards. This position provides technical expertise to maintain and continuously improve assigned areas in order to minimize costs and to ensure technical means for safe and high-quality operation.



  • Direct the definition and development of the economical project scope based on objectives provided by the Business Groups in cooperation with the Project Responsible.
  • Generate, direct and approve designs, specifications, drawing and instructions with emphasis on lowest possible investment cost and efficient and safe plant operability.
  • Manage and review preparation of conceptual and detailed cost estimates for capital projects
  • Direct and control the internal and external resources and organization of the project team in order to meet project scope and schedule
  • To be fully responsible technically and managerially for the definition, organization and execution of capital projects and for the compliance with all regulatory and corporate requirements
  • Develop detailed project execution and commissioning strategies and procedures in cooperation with the Project Responsible, Site Management, the Health Safety and Environmental Department, Maintenance and Manufacturing.
  • Services as the lead in the contracting process; developing the contracting strategy, preparing work/bid packages, selecting bidders, evaluating quotes, and awarding contracts.
  • Responsible for the overall job site organization, serving as a liaison for all parties involved in the construction site activities.
  • To be fully accountable for the final project scope and the total investment and Project Repair Cost.
  • Direct the preparation of the design and as built documentation.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and at least 5+ years’ project execution and plant experience
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with emphasis on oral and written communication
  • Ability to influence groups without having direct supervisory responsibility
  • Broad knowledge of plant design, production, project management, maintenance management, policies, and standards
  • Demonstrated technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills to maintain customer, area, and business needs, including skills to successfully overcome challenges and identify opportunities for improvements
  • Leadership skills
  • Ability to manage several projects with different stakeholders concurrently and deal with critical deadlines
  • Capable of managing typical project expenditures of  > $5 M/yr.
  • Experience in chemical or pharmaceutical processing equipment/unit operations is desirable
  • Strong computer skills in a variety of software packages (MS Office, SAP)
  • Team oriented
