  • Provide technical expertise, technical services, small capital project delivery for assigned customers at Tippecanoe Laboratories
  • Coordinate small capital and technical change projects through design, construction, commissioning, and qualification, and start up. This may include developing scopes, managing controls, and generating and executing system qualification packages.
  • Responsible for meeting site objectives in core areas of small capital project delivery, plant engineering support, equipment reliability, improvement of equipment systems, and key support for productivity projects utilizing both external and internal resources in assigned area.
  • Make and strongly influence key decisions and successfully manage time schedule, costs, quality, and plant/area operability.
  • Develop a maintenance strategy for assigned building(s)/area.
  • Maintenance budget planning, supervision and control of maintenance in assigned cost centers.
  • Prepare accurate and timely engineering expense reports as required by the site, the business line and Evonik Corporation. Utilize in order to drive improvements in reliability costs.
  • Responsible for development of the investment and asset strategy for current and future business in within the assigned area.
  • Responsible to foster a continuous improvement and optimization process in assigned area.
  • Monitor and report assigned cost center metrics on a regular basis.
  • Introduce and sustain standards, tools, procedures, safety, cGMP and compliance initiatives in assigned area. Address gaps proactively.
  • Support daily operations including troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis to assure technical availability.
  • Work with and influence process engineering to improve regulatory compliance, reliability, and safety.
  • Originate/develop technical changes, improvements, along with supporting documentation.
  • Serve as Project Responsible/Project Manager or consultant when necessary on larger capital projects/customer projects.


Each individual is responsible to meet fundamental cGMP requirements relating to their conduct and work practices to ensure the SISPQ (Safety, Identity, Strength, Purity, Quality) of the products manufactured at Evonik Tippecanoe Laborites. This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Adherence to all written instructions.
  • Timely reporting of all deviations to supervision.
  • Training on each activity is completed and current and that each employee understands their assigned duties.
  • Strict documentation practices are followed to ensure that all steps of the operation are appropriately documented.
  • Ensure to maintain the work area in a state of cleanliness an sanitation through good housekeeping practices and applying good personal health practices.
  • Ensure the security and safety of the product through the reporting of any potential risk to supervision immediately.
  • Ensure the safety of the personnel and product by wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) according to the operation being executed.
  • Each individual should report any action that they believe could impact the SISPQ of any product immediately to supervision.

Environmental, Safety, Health, & Security (ESHS)

  • Adhere to ESHS programs, rules, & procedures
  • Assume personal accountability for individual behaviors related to ESHS activities
  • Have the appropriate knowledge and tools prior to performing a task.
  • Complete all required ESHS training and remain current with applicable learning plans at all times.
  • Report all injuries to Employee Health Services or Security and supervision within the same shift of the incident occurring.
  • Inform direct supervision of any ESHS hazards or concerns in the workplace.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to coworkers on both safe and unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Actively participate in ESHS management system as directed by supervision.


  • BS in Engineering
  • 5+ years' experience OR Master's Degree
  • Possess an adequate knowledge of plant design, production, project management, maintenance management, policies and standards in assigned area.
  • Demonstrated technical, analytical, and problem solving skills to maintain customer, area, and business needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully overcome challenges and identify opportunities for improvements
  • Progressing in understanding the fundamentals of project management and plant engineering
  • Human relation skills with emphasis on oral and written communication are essential
  • Ability to influence groups without having direct supervisory responsibility
  • Adequate computer skills in a variety of software packages (MS Office, SAP)
  • Capable of managing a budget of $2M - $2.75M/yr.
  • Experience in chemical or pharmaceutical processing equipment/unit operations preferred
