The Quality Control Laboratory Technician performs accurate and timely testing of routine lab samples in accordance with appropriate GMP and safety guidelines. The Lab Tech will also perform equipment qualifications and quality system improvement initiatives by executing well-defined protocols and procedures.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sample Analysis and Reporting 

  • Performs sample analysis and reagent preparation in a timely manner with emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy of execution, often specializing in one or two instrumental techniques or disciplines (e.g. in-process testing) 

  • Reports lab testing data and completes documentation accurately and in

    accordance with laboratory procedures and regulatory requirements 

  • Reviews results for conformance to standards 

  • Ability to execute tasks by conforming to written procedures and protocols and recognize when a deviation from such procedures has occurred 

  • Learns and utilizes all required forms and documentation to assure compliance with internal and external requirements 

  • Performs routine instrument calibrations, qualifications, set-up, and suitability checks 

  • Routine utilization of laboratory software systems including but not limited to Empower, SmartLab, and Regulus 

  • Executes job responsibilities consistently • Performs second person verification of routine method and procedure execution 

  • Able to learn and perform basic trouble shooting skills 

  • Perform tracking and ordering of laboratory supplies 

  • Completes all training prior to execution of activity 

  • Performs regular housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work area when free time is available. Complies with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations

  • Follows written and verbal direction 

  • Communicates effectively with laboratory team members, supervision and across shifts 

  • Summarized observations and activities both verbally and in writing when appropriate Interpersonal Interactions

  • Understands and follows the departmental expectations regarding attendance, accountability and communication with supervision Quality Each individual is responsible to meet fundamental cGMP requirements relating to their conduct and work practices to ensure the SISPQ (Safety, Identity, Strength, Purity, Quality) of the products manufactured at Evonik Tippecanoe Laboratories.

  • This includes but is not limited to the following: 

    • Adherence to all written instructions. 

    • Timely reporting of all deviations to supervision. 

    • Training on each activity is completed and current and that each employee understands their assigned duties. 

    • Strict documentation practices are followed to ensure that all steps of the operation are appropriately documented. 

    • Ensure to maintain the work area in a state of cleanliness and sanitation through good housekeeping practices and applying good personal health practices. 

    • Ensure the security and safety of the product through the reporting of

      any potential risk to supervision immediately. 

    • Ensure the safety of the personnel and product by wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) according to the operation being executed. 

    • Each individual should report any action that they believe could impact the SISPQ of any product immediately to supervision. Environmental, Safety, Health, & Security (ESHS) 

    • Adhere to ESHS programs, rules, & procedures. 

    • Assume personal accountability for individual behaviors related to ESHS activities. 

    • Have the appropriate knowledge and tools prior to performing a task. 

    • Complete all required ESHS training and remain current with applicable learning plans at all times. 

    • Report all injuries to Employee Health Services or Security and supervision within the same shift of the incident occurring. 

    • Inform direct supervision of any ESHS hazards or concerns in the workplace. 

    • Provide feedback and coaching to coworkers on both safe and unsafe behaviors and conditions. 

    • Actively participate in the ESHS management system as directed by supervision

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Accurate and proficient analytical skills 
  • Ability to work in heavily regulated environment 
  • Strong math skills 
  • Good documentation skills 
  • Good communication skills
  • Good interpersonal interactions 
  • Previous experience in quality control laboratories is desired, but not required. 
  • Associates Degree (or equivalent work experience) 
  • Must complete required training as identified on Learning Plan.
  • Physical Requirements :
    • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

      Working Conditions:

    • May be required to work a 12 hour day or 12 hour night shift 

    • Flexibility in work hours may be required
