To define, organize, plan, direct and execute Evonik’s capital projects with medium-sized investment volume and/or medium level of complexity and focus in the North American region.

To ensure that the work is carried out according to accepted engineering practices, governmental regulations, and to the standards of quality expected by Evonik and within budget and schedule constraints.

To generate, direct, and approve BPCS/SIS designs, instrument specifications, drawings, and instructions to ensure that purchased equipment satisfies the process requirements.

To ensure that process automation systems are designed, specified, constructed, and commissioned according to Evonik Standards.

Incumbent will promote and maintain the principles of, and responsibilities related to Responsible Care within his/her assigned areas of responsibility.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the definition and development of the most economical project and process improvement scopes in cooperation with the Project Responsible.
  • Generate and approve designs, specifications, drawing and instructions with emphasis on lowest possible investment cost and efficient and safe plant operability.
  • To prepare engineering / construction bid documents and cost estimates for capital projects and process improvements.
  • Prepare front end engineering documentation and Capital Appropriation Requests.
  • Monitor and report project and improvement activity cost and schedule on a regular basis.
  • Accountable for the final project scope and process improvement definition and the investment costs.
  • Review and authorize capital expenditures as defined in the Authorized Signers List for Capital Projects.
  • Manage the preparation of the design and as built documentation for capital projects and process improvements.
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree
  • 3+ years’ focused chemical plant experience is required
  • Broad based knowledge of engineering fundamentals, manufacturing, operations, standard industry practices, regulatory issues as well as cost and schedule management as they relate to capital investments in the Process Industry.
  • Experience with Siemens PCS7, Emerson Delta V or industry equivalent control systems (hardware and software)
  • Programming and commissioning of Siemens PCS7, Emerson Delta V, or industry equivalent control systems
