The Quality Control Laboratory performs all operations necessary to support to testing requirements for the manufacturing of quality pharmaceutical intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients in a safe, efficient and environmentally responsible manner. The Quality Control Laboratory’s mission is to provide quality analytical data in a timely manger to customers while working within a cGMP regulated environment. The Manager – Quality Control will collaborate with internal and external customers, participating in the design and execution of method evaluations, technology transfers, equipment evaluation and qualification, and analytical results communications. This includes responsibility for employee development, productivity and quality of customer service. This position requires supervision of day to day operations for in-process, raw material, final, and stability activities within the Quality Control Laboratory. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

People:

Leadership:

  • Provide both personal and technical leadership to the staff. 
  • Work constructively with leadership to further elaborate and implement a strategic vision for the operation.
  • Effectively communicate with and influence customers to realize improvements in the transfer of product control strategies and in the management of routine workflow.
  • Through appropriate benchmarking activities, seek out and implement novel approaches to improving the operation.
  • Lead teams in establishing appropriate goals for performance improvement.
  • Hold teams and individuals accountable for action plan timelines and results. 

Operational Excellence:

  • To develop and maintain metrics to monitor operational efficiency and capacity.
  • To plan for and be held accountable for department financial metrics.
  • To act as a steward for continuous improvement of the processes and systems that supports the flow of work through operations.
  • To ensure that the operations are fully compliant with all applicable regulatory and safety requirements (cGMP, OSHA, Lilly CHP, etc.)

Customer:

  • Working effectively with customers to ensure that their needs are being met.
  • To proactively seek feedback from customer regarding the quality and timeliness of services
  • Act upon customer feedback for improvement.
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or related field required with relevant experience. Masters or PhD preferred.
  • Knowledge of analytical method development and validation
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory and safety requirements (cGMP, OSHA, etc.)
  • Demonstrated scientific problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills
  • Self-management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Prior experience with the department is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a wide variety of analytical instrumentation techniques
