The Production Superintendent is primarily responsible for providing operations support to Large Molecule Manufacturing Operations.  



  • ESHS / Safety Culture: Support departmental ESHS activities to reduce hazards and improve safety culture.
    • Manage and drive departmental “safety top ten” list items to completion through the area safety committee.  The superintendent may be asked to chair or co-chair the safety committee meeting. 
    • Manage and Drive special ESHS initiatives such Ergo Challenge items and PHA or related actions
  • Compliance: Support Objectives to maintain and improve quality and environmental compliance for LMM.
    • Lead Efforts to Reduce Human Errors to reduce misdirection and loss of primary containment events.
      • Participate or Lead Human Factors Assessments
      • Identify and implement appropriate functions for use of “Point and Call”
    • Own and Manage Minor/Major changes and deviations within Trackwise when appropriate
    • Assist Production Manager in establishing systems for timely completion of tasks including deviations, CAPAs, training, PHA actions, et
  • Cost Efficiency and Continuous Improvement:
    • Lead cross functional team with regards to optimization of production schedule and utilities for best practices of managing resources and cost-effective production scheduling.
      • Attend site S&OP meetings for facilitation resource optimization.
    • Lead continuous improvement activities within LMM including coordination and prioritization of 5S initiatives.
    • Leverage opportunities for efficiency improvements through Pas-X Electronic Batch Records and Process Automation
    • Participate and Support Process Unit Teams for continuous improvement opportunities
    • Support Operations Excellence initiativ
      • Assist Manager in development and use of efficient tracking tools for production metrics including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
      • Assist Manager in development of leading indicators for production metrics
    • Support Business Initiatives Associated with Impact of New Elanco Contract and Raw Materials Management



  • Minimum 4 years of manufacturing or manufacturing technical support experience (a BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field is desired but not required).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide tactical leadership of a group to achieve a common objective (preferably in a manufacturing environment).
  • Some supervisory experience desired (including coaching employees to improve performance).
  • Strong, demonstrated knowledge of Large Molecule Manufacturing business processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and mentor others.
  • Ability to identify and improve business processes by analyzing data, developing countermeasures, implementing action plans, and monitoring results.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Flexibility in hours is required as the role supports a manufacturing plant that operates 24/7/365.
  • Occasional travel may be involved.
