The Production Manager ensures that a culture of safety is a value and a part of everyone’s daily life.  The Production Manager leads the team in the manufacturing a variety of specialty chemical and /or intermediate products. The plant is a batch plant and supports 3 Business Lines.  Ensures that optimum production levels of quality product as required by the customer in a safe manor and in accordance with company policies and all federal, state and local regulations. Maintains a well-trained workforce that runs the plant well. Production manager must have effective communication and coordination skills to interact with the Site Head, site support functions such as EHSQ, Supply Chain, R&D, Continuous Improvement, Engineering and Maintenance as well as external to the site such as Procurement, Controlling, Sales & Marketing and Auditing functions.



Environmental, Health and Safety

  • Responsible for creating a safety culture that it is everyone’s individual value to work safely.
  • Ensure all Evonik EHS policies are followed by all employees, contractors and visitors.
  • Responsible for employees to ensure there are no miss directions or Loss of Primary Containment.
  • Responsible for all employees following all federal, state and local laws and regulations. Examples: OSHA PSM, RMP, RC 14001, ACC, EPA Clean Air Act Title V, RCRA, Large Quantity Generator Hazardous Waste, OCPSF, local POTW.
  • Responsible to conduct RCA on all required incidents and that reporting requirements are met.
  • Responsible to complete Hazardous waste requirements.
  • Safety at Evonik Multiplier including ownership of requirements upon site employees (TAN, shift starters, JSAs, walk-through audits, housekeeping audits, etc.)
  • Responsible for quarterly emergency response drills.
  • HAZWOPER trained – active role in emergency response as determined by ER manual.

  • Ensures all operations are carried out with safety, environment and community in mind.
  • Ensures products are produced with quality and according to ISO 9001 and 14001policies and procedures.
  • Responsible to coordinates all planned and emergency maintenance.
  • Responsible to support New Product Development of products.
  • Ensures operating procedures are updated for process changes, new product introductions, and new equipment installations.
  • Partners with Quality Manager to investigate customer complaints.


  • Minimum BS or MS in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, financial training desired or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years operational leadership/management experience within the chemical process industry.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to demonstrate teamwork and team building skills, ability to lead, ability to drive projects and opportunities. 
  • Must possess superior interpersonal skills and ability to work across cultural boundaries and be able to communicate effectively with individuals from a broad range of diverse backgrounds. Must be able to understand and integrate technical, non-technical and business aspects of a chemical manufacturing facility. 
  • Must demonstrate the ability to motivate a team and foster a positive work environment characterized by an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust, accountability and open communication.
