This position is responsible to promote and maintain the principles of and responsibilities related to Safety, Environmental Systems, and Responsible Care within his/her assigned areas of responsibility.


Responsible for developing a culture of continuous quality improvement starting from the plant laboratory and spreading out into the plant.   Leading multi-function root cause analysis investigations and ensuring implementation of the developed solutions. This position serves as the key technical contact between the plant, regional, global Technical Services and Innovation.  The position is the leader of the North American Quality Region Team.


The incumbent will directly support the Plant Manager in managing all aspects of a batch process operation to meet production goals safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and applicable government regulations.  The position will supervise the laboratory resources of the plant.  The position will assume responsibilities in the absence of the plant manager.


Supports and optimizes the current production processes.  Provides technical support as needed for plant trials, optimization efforts, and troubleshooting in EOA plants and toll manufacturing facilities. Writes and maintains documentation for these activities.

  • Provide technical support for plant optimization strategies
  • Provide technical support for plant troubleshooting
  • Supports process technology in commercialization processes including design of experiments and laboratory support


This position reports administratively and functionally to the Plant Manager.  Supervisory duties are assigned on an as required basis in support of the Plant Manager.  Decision making authority is delegated to this position as the incumbent's experience and knowledge of the facility's operation increases.  Decisions may encompass the full range of production requirements.  This position should support the continuous improvement of the process by creating and/or following up on suggestions.

Direct communication with the operating personnel is necessary to carry out delegated responsibilities.  Full participation in, and the conduct of, communications meetings is a priority.  This position is a member of the plant management team. The communication of company and plant policies and procedures to the employees requires diligent study and in-depth understanding.  

•    Knowledge of plant operations and process problem solving is enhanced through communication with the operating personnel.  
•    Functional support and guidance for this position is provided by the Plant Manager. 
•     Information on production equipment, process methods and management skills is researched in various plant and company manuals, publications, seminars, conferences and other resource material. Minimum of B.S. in Polymer Chemistry or Polymer Engineering with 5-8 years experience in chem. mfg setting or PhD. in Polmyer Chemistry or Polymer Engineering with 3-5 years exp required 
•    Familiarity with relevant polymer analytical equipment and methods. Six sigma black belt experience is preferred.
•    Strong leadership, supervisory, and project management skills required
•    Strong scientific or technology knowledge to support and lead technology projects
•    Strong critical thinking skills that yield sound conclusions and decisions in complex environments
•    Good written and verbal communication skills
•    Good interpersonal and team skills
•    Ability to develop and lead people
•    Ability to create and work in high performing teams
