The Regional OEM Manager develops, plans and executes the regional OEM strategy for the business segment. The strategy roll-out to the organization is supported by the GBD and PMs who will also help ensure alignment across the organization. The Regional OEM Manager provides guidance to the industry with regard to OEM specification-setting based on his/her deep understanding of technical issues defined by Evonik's technologies, products and spheres of knowledge. He/she establishes contacts to OEMs, builds long-term relationships and enlists OEM influence on the industry to adopt resource efficient solutions that benefit OA. He/She is responsible for identifying and communicating opportunities for new or expanded business as well as potential threats to OA business. 
From a strategic perspective it is critically important that the Regional OEM Manager performs in an "account agnostic" mode with respect to fluid suppliers; that is, they do not favor one supplier over others at the OEM.
The Regional OEM Manager position is responsible for compliance with and promotion of the principles related to Safety, Environmental Systems, and Responsible Care(R).



The Regional OEM Manager is responsible for the following:
•    Writing and distribution of call reports for each contact 
•    Preparation and dissemination of OEM mappings that provide a clear understanding of OEMs and their suppliers and the state of their relationships
•    Coordination between regions, facilitated by the GBD and PMs 
•    Engaging the IMPAX process to position Evonik as a strategic resource to the OEM; cultivate multiple relationships throughout the OEM organization, and gain deep insight into the OEM's long-range objectives, strategies, and challenges.
•    Leadership of projects at OEMs as project manager; taking the lead in communications with other internal groups (Sales, Technical service, Innovation, etc.) as appropriate for each project
•    Coordination, alignment and proper resourcing for OEM-related activities 
•    Presentations at conferences and participation in panel discussions, as needed
•    As applicable, active participation in lubricant industry meetings, presenting the OA point-of-view on issues relevant to the business while working towards industry specifications that benefit OA. Establishing and maintaining files and records of EOA industry committee activities.
•    Monitor current and future specifications as well as new developments and trends in the industry; and inform/update the organization regularly; analyze these trends and provide guidance on modifying segment strategies; communicate to segment management frequently and effectively on the changes that should be made to segment strategies. 




The Regional OEM Manager has the following decision-making power:
•    Authority to call on every OEM. In case of existing business relationships this will be done together with, or in coordination with, the responsible Account Manager and Technical Service manager of the targeted OEM's fluid supplier.
•    No direct responsibility for supervising personnel
•    No budget responsibility

Key Interfaces and their Management
•    The Regional OEM Manager closely cooperates with the GBD and PMs and supports the implementation of the OEM aspects of the segment strategy, both internally and with industry bodies. The Regional OEM Manager also cooperates with the other Regional OEM Managers to ensure global alignment of OEM strategies and actions. 



  • The Regional OEM Manager should have a minimum of 5 years active experience in a technical or commercial.
  • Preference is for a technical background (e.g. innovation, technical service).
  • Good communication skills, demonstrated drive and ambition, sound strategic thinking and the ability to leverage contacts are required in addition to a strategically-focused bias for action.
