Provides technical support within the HPE-1 plant and serves as liaison between engineering and operations for capital projects.  May be assigned temporarily to another plant or support all plants on site based on site priorities.  Identifies and executes improvement projects in the plant to promote cost savings and to improve the Overall Equipment Effectiveness. When technical equipment changes are needed, assists in the transfer of new production technology and products from R&D and the Business Line Departments to the plant. Develops new work instructions when implementing new processes and initiates modifications to existing work instructions when needed. Manages safety reviews as the technical expert (PHAs and PSSRs) and provides follow up on action items.  Participates in the MOC process for the plant and manages changes to technical drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, etc.). This position has dotted line responsibility to the Plant Manager.  The position may be assigned temporarily to any Hopewell production areas depending on the needs of the organization.



  • A core responsibility of this position is to take full ownership in PSM compliance. Assumes ownership of plant technical documentation including all documentation to support PSM complance.
  • Provide technical support for the plant by troubleshooting equipment, identifying and executing process control system improvements, and by using the MOC system to manage changes.
  • Identifies and executes improvement projects in the plant to reduce manufacturing costs and to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
  • Faciliates capital investment in the plant by developing project scopes, participating in the selection of new process equipment, designing process control strategies and commissioning, and manages small scale projects.
  • Assists in the transfer of new product technology and products from R&D and the Business Line Departments to the plant.




  • Education: B.S. in Chemical Engineering        
  • Related Experience: 5-10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing plant
  • Special Training or Competence: Background in statistical analysis and/or Six Sigma methods preferred. Prior experience in PSM preferred.
  • Equipment/Software Skills:  Computer literate in Excel, Word, and SAP.  Delta V Batch experience preferred.
