Provides technical support within the plants and serves as liaison between engineering and operations for capital projects.  May be assigned to one plant or support all plants on site based on site priorities.  Identifies and executes improvement projects in the plant to promote cost savings and to improve the Overall Equipment Effectiveness. When technical equipment changes are needed, assists in the transfer of new production technology and products from R&D and the Business Line Departments to the plant. Develops new work instructions when implementing new processes and initiates modifications to existing work instructions when needed. Manages safety reviews (PHAs and PSSRs) and provides follow up on action items.  Participates in the MOC process for the plant and manages changes to technical drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, etc.). This position has dotted line responsibility to the Plant Manager.  The position may be assigned temporarily any Hopewell production areas depending on the needs of the organization.



  • A core responsibility of this position is to take full ownership in PSM compliance. Assumes ownership of all assigned technical documentation in the plants and assigned site infrastructure; including all documentation to support PSM compliance.                       
  • Provide technical support for the plants and site  infrastructure by troubleshooting equipment, identifying and executing process control system improvements, and by using the MOC system to manage changes.                                            
  • Identifies and executes improvement projects in the plants and site infrastructure to reduce manufacturing costs and to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness.                                            
  • Facilitates capital investment as assigned in the plants and the site by developing project scopes, participating in the selection of new process equipment, designing process control strategies and commissioning, and manages small scale projects.                       
  • Assists in the transfer of new product technology and products from R&D and the Business Line Departments to the plants when required.          
  • Support site related activities as defined by the supervisor.

  • BS Chemical Engineering 
  • 2-5 Years Experience in a chemical plant 
  • Background in statistical analysis and/or Six Sigma methods preferred. Prior experience in PSM preferred.
  • Computer literate in Excel, Word, and SAP.  Delta V Batch experience preferred.
