SUMMARY:

This position is not your typical R&D role. We’re seeking a hands-on person who will act as the link between R&D and production. You’ll optimize and improve plant operations across the globe, taking R&D initiatives into plant environments, assisting with scale-ups, and supervising trials. You will work with a variety of people, so a strong ability to be flexible is key. We’re looking for someone who gets the job done—even if it’s a little outside their comfort zone. Ability to influence and support change will be critical to this person’s success.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute experimental programs in the pilot plant and at vendor sites to validate commercial application process technology.
  • Process/product development, scale-up, and commercialization.
  • Implementation of process improvements to reduce manufacturing costs or improve manufacturing capability and product quality.
  • Support manufacturing in problem solving and process improvement.
  • Provide start-up, capital project support as needed or to support new manufacturing technology.
  • Engineering support for capital projects to reduce capital costs.
  • Development of technical expertise in process technology fundamentals and application of these fundamentals.
  • Identify new process technology for improving capabilities.
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Advanced degree helpful.
  • 5+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment. We’d love to see someone with production or process experience along with R&D. However, we will consider go-getters with less R&D exposure.
  • You’re a skilled communicator. You navigate multiple cultures and levels with grace and ease. You’re sensitive to the people you interact with, but you’re also able to push back in a polite way to meet your goals.
  • You’re an influencer. People respect you and listen to your ideas. You’re known for being fair and have acted to initiate meaningful change.
  • You hold people accountable and aren’t afraid to dig into information.
  • You have a sharp, analytical mind and can handle statistical analysis as needed.
  • You’re independent, but able to work efficiently in teams without a lot of supervision.
