Safely and accurately produce product which conforms to internal and customer specifications using standard operating procedures. Production is accomplished by mastering a system of storage, mixing, blending and holding tanks, pumps, associated piping, controls and instrumentation to transfer raw materials to mixing equipment and the prepared product to the packaging area.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely and accurately operates manual semiautomatic and automatic chemical processing equipment to produce silica-based chemicals, by-products.
  • Sets or regulates automatic controls or manually operates valves, pumps, chemical processing or conveying equipment to regulate flow of materials, sequence and timing of operations and operating conditions such as temperature, pressure, vacuum, etc.
  • Observes and accurately records reactions and operation of equipment and monitors gauges, signals and recorders.
  • Efficiently sets-up and changes over processing systems to produce various products according to operating procedures, product specifications, special instructions and knowledge of the process and equipment.
  • Is proficient in all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to the assigned job.
  • Trains less experienced Operators.
  • Uses statistical methods for process control to quality specifications.
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent
  • Must be capable of working 8-hour rotating shift and varied overtime.
  • Safe equipment operation and handling of hazardous chemicals requires sound mental ability and concentration to the task at hand.
  • Experience with pumps, valves and motors preferred
  • Experience with batch manufacturing operations preferred
