This position is a senior site position responsible for all E, H & S accountabilities and is focused on personnel safety, process safety, industrial hygiene, fire protection, emergency response, contractor safety, security and environmental compliance and permitting.  Monitors/audits the workplace to verify compliance with regulations, laws, company policy, site procedures and safe work practices.  This position is responsible for being informed about, interpreting and integrating regulatory policy and rules so that procedures and practices in place at the facility comply with the laws but do not create excessive costs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advises site managers and supervisors with regard to professional opinion about the Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Occupational Health, and Environmental elements associated with various work practices and procedures. 
  • This position is a senior site position responsible for all E, H & S accountabilities and is focused on personnel safety, process safety, industrial hygiene, fire protection, emergency response, contractor safety, security and environmental compliance and permitting.  Monitors/audits the workplace to verify compliance with regulations, laws, company policy, site procedures and safe work practices. 
  • This position is responsible for being informed about, interpreting and integrating regulatory policy and rules so that procedures and practices in place at the facility comply with the laws but do not create excessive costs.
  • Maintains an effective safety audit program that addresses concerns about safety and environmental requirements by regularly monitoring/auditing work site and operating procedures for compliance with safe work practices and procedures as well as regulatory compliance.  Monitors work place procedures and practices so that regulatory compliance is maintained without creating excess, unneeded costs.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining of ISO documentation, facilitates and participates in site audits (ISO, RC, QAKE, etc.). 
  • Supports the Garyville site’s quality improvement process and conveys this attitude in the daily performance of various duties.
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires a minimum Bachelors of Science degree in either Chemistry, EHS, or another related discipline.  Would like someone with experience
  • At least 5 years of previous experience in a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • PSM knowledge preferred
