  • Support applications development and technical service efforts to provide solutions to customers in the automotive polyurethane markets within the EMEA region
  • Train sales team members on Advanced Polyurethanes product line, including technical value proposition versus competitive benchmarks
  • Active participation in multi-regional, multi-functional, industry teams to identify industry technology needs
  • Collaborate with the product R&D groups in the evaluation and development of new technologies for the automotive polyurethane markets
  • Attend industry meetings, stay current in understanding market trends and translate this understanding to create or drive new projects for the Advanced PU product line
  • Write patents, publish papers, and give presentations that further establish the position of Evonik as a leading provider of additives for the polyurethanes industry
  • Establish laboratory and relevant applications development capabilities as needed to service the needs of customers supplying the automotive industry
  • Manage laboratory space and equipment, and assume safety responsibilities according to national and Evonik site safety guidelines


  • PhD or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Several years of technical experience within the polyurethane industry with existing knowledge of customer base, applications, chemistry and key testing requirements are beneficial
  • Project management and project execution skills, with the ability to drive customer adoption of new technologies and existing products
  • Very good communication skills in German and English
  • Practical approach for the polyurethane applications development, as well as competent handling of laboratory equipment and test equipment for applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with and advise customers
  • Willingness to work within multifunctional and multiregional teams
  • Ability to perform business related travel
