In line with HR and the regional platform the Communications Manager – External/Internal COM is overall responsible for external/internal communication activities to enhance [external: brand image and brand awareness of Evonik to its external stakeholders within the respective region especially focusing on Evonik’s attractiveness as an employer] / [internal: Evonik’s values and management strategy to its internal stakeholders within the respective region].

He/she acts as communications consultant in close coordination with the Head of Regional Communications for the region, local contacts and the team of External/Internal Communications at Evonik.

The Communications Manager – External/Internal COM positions the Evonik brand and its business strategy externally/internally with all interest groups in the region by managing and adapting various communication tools and channels in order to improve and boost brand awareness and identity.




Principle Accountability


Planning & Budgeting external/internal

  • Plan and evaluate yearly external/internal com activities for the respective region
  • Review, control and align overseen com budgets in exchange with the specific stakeholders


Public Relations (external)

  • Liaise with journalists, media representatives and PR agencies to foster Evonik’s external brand image in regard to Evonik’s general presence in the region and build a PR network
  • Update and manage online activities and publications for external media
  • Develop, evaluate and maintain Evonik’s internet presence in the particular region and on a country level
  • Evaluate opportunities and supervise contracts for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising in order to raise Evonik’s general awareness


Employee COM (internal)

  • Update and manage
    • Evonik’s regional intranet website,
    • internal publications and email communication,
    • employee and managerial events such as townhalls,
    • change and integration communication,
    • sponsoring activities
  • Develop and revise crisis communication processes for the particular region including manuals, media training for site managers etc.


Marketing and other business-related activities

  • Draft, outline and finalize marketing material for product communication purposes
  • Plan, structure and publish advertisements in line with business requirements
  • Manage and execute online activities for product communication
  • Deal with close to the market press relations focused on products and industries such as product launches
  • Design, prepare, implement and operationally monitor tradeshows and events
  • Monitor and analyze various communication activities relevant for the business
  • Advise in strategic focus and adaptation for different target groups
  • Support regional sponsoring & CSR activities related to business purposes
  • Liaise with external partners, suppliers and build business relationships with vendors and sponsors
  • Engage in special communications projects

Personal Competencies


  • Bachelor’s degree or above in communication and media management, public relations or relatable studies
  • Several years of working experience in public relations, internal communication or corporate communication in the B2C or B2B industry (approx. 5 years)
  • Excellent skills in drafting and writing texts, editing internal announcements etc.
  • Strong know-how in organizing and implementing events
  • Proficient English, further languages are a plus
