This position has three primary responsibilities. 

The first key responsibility is for all aspects of Quality in the manufacturing and testing of precipitated silica including all ISO-9000 compliance.

 

This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining all aspects of the environmental programs to ensure regulatory compliance at the federal, state, and local levels.

The incumbent’s third area of responsibility encompasses the direction of the site’s Health & Safety program to meet the OSHA guidelines.

 

The QA Manager is responsible for the overall implementation and compliance with the food safety regulations. This position is the lead for the HACCP & Risk Analysis team. Process Control Qualified individual, and the SQF Practitioner at the Chester site.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the Quality Assurance Department as a cost effective provider of quality assurance services, including analytical services. Including the maintenance of an auditable quality system according to ISO-9000, customer requirements, and Evonik (AG) worldwide standards.
  • Acts as the primary interface with customers and Marketing to resolve quality concerns to maintain Degussa’s competitive advantage in customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation upgrades of the training and technical testing to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Develop resources and systems to conduct effective SPC measurements and process guidelines site to improve the process capability and prediction of product problems.
  • Manage and conduct all customer, ISO-9000, OSHA, and Environmental audits of the facility and resolve any issues presented to maintain compliance.
  • Develop and maintain the site environmental compliance at the federal, state, and local levels and establish open communications with regulatory agencies to gain insight to future environmental concerns and focus. Provide accurate and timely management of environmental permits, required reports, and correspondence to facilitate improvements on an ongoing basis with regulatory agencies.
  • Establish, upgrade, and maintain the plant's compliance with the federal OSHA regulations.
  • Develop policies and programs with the Health and Insurance providers to effectively manage the site workers compensation program
  • Participate in product, process, and responsible for development of testing for new products.
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS degree in Chemistry
  • 10+ years’ experience of analytical laboratory and industrial supervisory experience
  • Strong computer, administrative, and management skills
  • Must be available and on call for continuous plant operations
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and across both departmental and hierarchical levels to investigate and resolve complex problems in the quality, environmental, and health & safety disciplines
  • Must be a trained CQI facilitator or quality auditor
  • Ability to independently manage multiple activities with complex regulation for OSHA, EPA, PADER, and ISO-9000.
  • Must have the skills to interpret the OSHA guidelines as they apply to the facility, and provide recommendations based on this knowledge.
