SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to manage and oversee all aspects of Catalyst Production at the site related to the PMC, CPC and CPC-Axens production lines as well as Supply Chain Management (SCM). Furthermore, to produce quality product safely, efficiently, and within our environmental guidelines. This position will provide support and leadership to the production managers and the supply chain manager for the respective production lines  and represents production in the regional KA management team as well as to select key customers, e.g. Axens and Bayer.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, lead and motivate production managers responsible for the PMC, CPC,  and CPC-Axens production lines to: (1) ensure cost efficient and safe operation within our environmental guidlines, (2) encourage participation in continuous improvement, (3) foster an environment that increases ownership of the process and the site, (4) provide constructive feedback and training sessions so as to increase knowledge and confidence of your coworkers and (5) create an environment of trust, mutual respect and shared influence.
  • Responsible for overseeing the materials and logistics department and the QC department.
  • Develop and administer the overall plant budgeting process and budget. Control costs to budget
  • Organize, monitor, develop and administer plant human resources to ensure adequate supply and capability.
  • Apply ISO 14001, ISO-9001: 2000, RC 14001, and ISO 50001 standard requirements to all areas of department.
  • Develop production plans to meet business needs.
  • Communicate production plans to ensure that required resources (for example, raw materials and QC lab coverage) are secured.
  • Monitor production and take action to ensure targets are met and that co-workers are well informed of deviations to schedule and corrective actions.
  • Develop/improve unit operating and SC procedures and assist in training operators on same.
  • Develop and maintain operating parameters and guidelines to enable unit personnel to operate and maintain the unit in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
  • Provide support for projects for process development and plant administration as needed.
  • Participate in the grievance process to resolve potential issues at the earliest stages.
  • Participate in Safety Reviews and Hazard Analysis.
  • Promote employee goodwill, enthusiasm, and the Basic Beliefs of Evonik Corporation.
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education level: A BS in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry with experience in chemical catalysts plants preferred.
  • Superior organization, management and commications skills are absolutely essential to meet the everyday needs and challenges of this position.   

  • It is absolutely essential for the person filling this position to keep a close eye on (1) safe work habits of co-workers, (2) cost with respect to the workforce (i.e. overtime) and (3) production targets and productivity. 

  • With respect to production and cost, it is absolutely essential that the person filling this position has the abilty to foresee deviations from plan with respect to cost and production, determine corrective action and execute corrective action.

  • Ability to react quickly and professionally to fluctuations and changes in production scheduling.
  • Ability to lead and support co-workers in a Self Directed Work Team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and react professionally in high pressure situations.
