The position is responsible for Acetylenics, utilities, and infrastructure areas from a technical perspective. This position is the subject-matter expert in plant equipment performance. A practical knowledge of current maintenance & engineering best practices is required. In addition, this position will take a lead role in continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance. Functional support is provided by the Engineering & Maintenance Manager. The incumbent must interact frequently with members of Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and other site departments. Organization and communication skills are essential to meet the everyday needs and challenges of this position. Demonstrated interest and ability to work independently and be able to perform multiple routine and non-routine tasks in functional areas are competencies is necessary for the successful candidate. 



  • Perform process calculations and analyze data for equipment troubleshooting and optimization. 
  • Provide guidance to the mechanical maintenance personnel in the repair, maintenance and installation of process equipment including problem-solving and measurement activities that support continuous plant operations.
  • Provide feedback to other groups including, but not limited to, production, technical, engineering, etc. in support of continuous improvement efforts. 
  • Lead equipment failure investigations using root cause analysis, 5-Why, and/or other analytic techniques.
  • Follow company safety and health guidelines and other company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Create and/or modify site work procedures, as needed to stay current with industry best practices.
  • Lead in troubleshooting and provide solutions for operations and maintenance when dealing with equipment performance issues. 
  • Able to use SAP for entering requisitions, work orders, PM plans and pulling all information related to maintenance and project costs.
  • Assist in development and optimization of spare parts.
  • Shutdown coordinator and leader.  Lead shutdown scope, planning, development, and shutdown execution safely, on budget, and on schedule.  
  • PSM experience to ensure all projects, repairs, and processes follow RAGAGEPs and meet all requirements to maintain process safety and legal compliance.
  • Responsible for OSHA process safety adherence and documentation. MOC's, P&ID updates, PSSR leader, and equipment file updates.
  • Responsible for CAD mechanical integrity program: management, application, documentation, and remediation of deficiencies. 
  • Design or Modify asset care/maintenance strategies and procedures using RCM, FMEA, or other Risk-based methods.
  • Responsible for equipment file accuracy and completeness to facilitate quick review and repair of equipment.
  • Perform the role of project manager or project responsible according to Evonik’s BTD's.  Able to develop and fully lead projects up to $500 TUSD with minimal supervision.  Provide accurate costs, schedules, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Effectively develop the scope of projects in all phases.  Works closely with stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly defined and solutions are agreed upon. Stakeholders include plant operators, area managers, site management, quality, safety, and business managers.  Must effectively manage scope change. 
  • Responsible for working with internal and external engineers (i.e. Engineering Companies) and performs the role of construction manager for CAD projects.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in an OSHA PSM chemical manufacturing facility. 
  • Background in OSHA PSM manufacturing facility.
  • Familiar with API, ASME, and OSHA standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with external and international customers and vendors.
  • Strong computer skills
