This position is a degreed engineering professional with experience to ensures the organization, planning, direction and control of maintenance, technical changes, capital improvements, and technical documentation for Instrumentation and Electrical in the Blair site.  The scope of work for this role will include Biolys, Shared and Veramaris equipment and systems.

This role will routinely need to interface with DCS systems and the Automation engineers. The E&I engineer shall support supervision to E&I Licensed and Certified technicians, electricians and contractors.  They will assist in the planning of maintenance activities. The position provides the technical expertise to maintain and continuously improve E&I in order to minimize costs, ensure safe operation, provide high product quality, reliability and guarantee the desired technical availability.  

The role will serve as Project Manager (PM) or Project Responsible (PR) on capital improvement projects and they should be able to successfully work on complex projects including other technical disciplines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operational support for electrical and instrumentation systems (includes troubleshooting of electrical or instrumentation equipment, LOTO, permits.
  • Fully responsible for planning, managing, and organizing engineering and technical support for E&I. This support includes maintenance activities, technical changes/improvements, project management and technical documentation.  The position is responsible for maintenance cost control and capital investment budgets. They must be business oriented in their work and shows a high level of cost awareness and cost responsibility. 
  • General Maintenance responsibilities: support Plant Engineer, Planner and Maint. Coordinator for all the site assets, responsible for the E&I SAP asset structure/BOM/Spare parts, Risk Based Maintenance and criticality analysis for E&I, coordinate and manage internal resources and contractors for E&I. 
  • Shutdown/Turn arounds E&I activities management:
  • Includes interface with whole site for downtime, generator sets installation, electricity provider, creating/reviewing all the necessary work considering the legal/technical requirements
  • Project Management and Project discipline support for E&I installation:
  • Includes all activities from conceptual design to startup of a project, such as specification of electrical systems and instrumentation, development of detail design drawings, compilation of bid packages, E&I contractor management, updating E&I documentation with “AS BUILT” status from projects, etc.  When not a PM of project must interface with the PM to give support on E&I topics. Normally will be part of all projects on site as E&I discipline lead. 
  • Ensures regulatory compliance of technical installations, maintenance practices, and technical documentation in the areas of E&I. 
  • Drives continuous improvement of electrical/instrumentation systems and responsible for Root Cause Analysis:
  • Includes researching, coordinating, implementing and documenting updates / upgrades to electrical systems or system components
  • Ownership of Electrical and Instrumentation Documentation:
  • Includes all electrical and instrument documentation in paper or electronic form, component manuals, software manuals, equipment files, SAP information, site doc and instrument database
  • Assist, participate and coordinate MOCs, incident investigations and RCA workflows
  • Provide training in the E&I area as required by governing bodies and as directed by plant management to guarantee the licensed and certified electricians and contractors are compliant. 
  • Supports and Upholds all HACCP, ISO 9001/14001, and RC14001 policies
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in instrumentation AND electrical engineering.

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical engineering.

  • Understanding of legal requirements as per the national standard of plant requirements.

  • Experience working with mid to low voltage in terms of engineering.

  • Knowledge of NEC codes .

  • Practical experience in instrumentation.
