  • Perform all duties in accordance with all applicable regulations and company policies (e.g., Quality, Safety, Environmental). 
  • The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for monitoring all work requests that come into the CMMS. Notification through Completion, including Maintenance Based PMs. 
  • Reading of closing notes for Work Order Status.
  • Follow-up with Craft supervision for feedback loop. (Quality of closing notes, Planning/scheduling issues, craftmanship)
  • Share Maintenance KPI’s with area.
  • Monitor and record Schedule Compliance.
  • They determine the validity of work requests and eliminate any duplicate requests.
  • They work with the production area to secure a maintenance window to complete the work.
  • They work with operations, engineering, Equipment Reliability, and the maintenance group to address, investigate, and resolve equipment related issues.
  • They partner with the Equipment Owner or Plant Engineer assigned to their area of responsibility.  They communicate the weekly schedule to the operations area(s). 
  • Work with Engineering to coordinate Capital project delivery for their areas of responsibility. 
  • The Maintenance Coordinator works with Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance Scheduling Superintendent, and contractors to establish weekly maintenance and resource (both personnel and equipment) schedules for their area of responsibility.
  • This includes meeting at least weekly to develop a schedule and share resources as necessary across the site. They schedule and participate in job walk throughs. (making sure that all appropriate parties are invited) 
  • Each individual is responsible to meet fundamental cGMP requirements relating to their conduct and work practices to ensure the SISPQ (Safety, Identity, Strength, Purity, Quality) of the products manufactured at Evonik Birmingham Laboratories. This includes but is not limited to the following: 
  • Adherence to all written instructions.
  • Strict documentation practices are followed to ensure that all steps of the operation are appropriately documented.
  • Ensure to maintain the work area in a state of cleanliness and sanitation through good housekeeping practices and applying good personal health practices.
  • Ensure the security and safety of the product through the reporting of any potential risk to supervision immediately.
  • Ensure the safety of the personnel and product by wearing proper PPE
  • (Personal Protective Equipment) according to the operation being executed. 
  • Each individual should report any action that they believe could impact the SISPQ of any product immediately to supervision.
  • Environmental, Safety, Health, & Security (ESHS)
  • Adhere to ESHS programs, rules, & procedures.
  • Assume personal accountability for individual behaviors related to ESHS activities.
  • Have the appropriate knowledge and tools prior to performing a task.
  • Complete all required ESHS training and remain current with applicable learning plans at all times.
  • Report all injuries to Employee Health Services or Security and supervision within the same shift of the incident occurring.
  • Inform direct supervision of any ESHS hazards or concerns in the workplace.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to coworkers on both safe and unsafe behaviors and conditions.


  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7 years maintenance experience preferred
  • Min 5 years experience in a coordinating role required with demonstrated success, experience in a GMP regulated industry. i.e., manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or medical device industry is a plus but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple activities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a variety of customers
  • Demonstrated computer skills in SAP/ PM Module, Word, Excel, etc. preferred
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and documentation skills
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, ability to influence others. Ability to lead teams and be an effective team member, of both maintenance and operations groups.
  • Good troubleshooting and analytical skills to evaluate data. 
  • Understanding of cGMP fundamentals to include, but not limited to Good Documentation Practices is a plus but not required. 
  • Familiar with Proactive Asset Management work processes and methodologies
  • Prior experience with the maintenance department is preferred.
  • Sound judgment; ability to be flexible.
