This function is responsible for the execution of strategic research and development with the target to create new business opportunities for Evonik in the New Growth Area Hydrogen Economy.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development and management of complex, strategic R&D projects 
  • The technical lead in interdisciplinary R&D projects
  • Management of market, potential and technology analysis
  • Support in the development of conceptual and proof-of-principle studies under strict consideration of economic aspects
  • Preparation and execution of the transfer of projects into the operative segments of Evonik
  • Support in the development and execution of publicly funded projects and screening of recent developments in the field of hydrogen economy
  • Management of innovation topics under observation of relevant patents, identification of white spots, as well as support in the creation of new IP
  • Discovery of new ideas for the Innovation Domain Materials for Hydrogen Infrastructure
  • Steering of the innovation management process (DIA)
  • Steering of sustainability and lifecycle management analysis
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D. or MS in chemistry, chemical engineering, business chemistry, material science
  • 2+ years’ experience in project management, preferably in areas of R&D 
  • 1+ years’ experience business development as well as business models with in (specialty) chemical industry
  • In depth knowledge in the areas of polymeric materials, material science, hydrogen economy, material characterization
  • Demonstrated knowledge in development of standards and identifying industry norms preferred 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in the interaction with internal and external partners and costumers
  • Ability to quickly assess new topics in an analytical way
  • High degree of independence when identifying and incubating new projects
  • Reliability, teamwork, and flexibility necessary for the role
