This position will support technical service, application development and new product development for the High Density Polyurethane (HDPU) related products and applications.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts experimental tests required to successfully formulate new products in a variety of high density PU markets (froth foam, microcellular, coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers, composites) and evaluates products in industry-relevant applications tests with limited supervision.  Makes modifications to applications tests or develops new test methods to simulate field performance of products as needed. 

  • Analyzes and interprets data obtained from technical experimentation and effectively communicates these results, as well as any observed inconsistencies and proposed improvements, to his/her supervisor

  • Coordinates sample shipments, routine analytical analysis, regulatory set-up of experimental samples, and purchasing of supplies for lab

  • Coordinate and complete the Versalink product qualifications for Military customers

  • Efficiently manages laboratory on behalf of all other laboratory occupants and users (including his or her supervisor and other senior managers), ensuring all site safety requirements are consistently met. 

  • Writes Safe Work Practices, Design Hazard Reviews and Management of Changes as needed.  Actively participates in company safety program.

  • Shares knowledge of specific expertise with other colleagues in order to advance the overall competency of the technology team and business

  • Activities include handling of hazardous and non-hazardous chemical in quantities of 5-55 gallons. Candidates should be able to lift 40 lbs.  

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates or B.S. Degree in Chemistry, Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering or related
  • Minimum 1-2 years of laboratory experience or related production experience

  • Experience in polyurethanes or CASE application testing is preferred

  • Experience handling hazardous chemicals

 

  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs on a daily basis
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
